Every Directory is A Good Directory

Directories are a good place to generate extra traffic for your site, often at no cost. The submission process is basic, and people coming from their links will be looking specifically for your industry.

Basic Guidelines

Directories provide direct, usually relevant traffic to your website.

They allow for live links with the anchor text you choose, which makes them useful for targeting exact keywords.

You should:

  • submit to directories which offer a “live” (non redirected) link
  • Select the most appropriate category
  • Submit your site to as many relevant directories as possible
  • How To Submit

Each directory has a slightly different format, but generally they require the following details for your site:

    URL: http://www.paigefiller.com
    Title: Copywriting
Description: Paige Filler writes copy that brings people to you.
Keywords: copywriting, copy, articles, SEO, writing
    Email: admin@paigefiller.com

The title, description and keywords should be varied for each submission.

I suggest starting with 5-10 submission per day ongoing. (expect about 20-30% to be accepted).

    Paid Vs Free Directories

The busier a directory gets the more likely they are to charge for submissions. If your budget is small then start with the free ones, if the results are worthwhile use the paid directories too. The paid directories are beneficial because they spend more on marketing and are therefore likely to provide more traffic and exposure for your site.

This article is intended for those who have a very basic level of understanding when it comes to marketing on the web.
