This article makes looking for writing work a full time job. There are plenty of different resources out there for finding freelance gigs, I use all of these sites listed in this article when I’m looking for work.
No Account Sign Up
These sites don’t require writers to sign up for an account to search and apply for jobs. This is where to start your hunt.
Craigslist

Craigslist remains a simple, user friendly design, organized by location. Don’t stop at your own city, check out all of the top cities and look at both the writing jobs and writing gigs.
Try listings in Europe and the UK too, by all means take advantage of the strength of their currencies.
Writerfind

The site is ugly and not very busy, but it works. The listings on Writerfind are global and good stuff can be found.
Problogger

A solid resource all around, the jobs on this site are usually good ones. Problogger is where web design geeks look for writers.
Sunoasis

A lot of the listings link to jobs on Craigslist and various other sites, but Sunoasis is still worth a glance.
All Freelance Writing Jobs

All freelance writing jobs posts jobs fairly consistently, again lots of links to other writing and job sites.
Stuntdubl

Mainly a job board for SEOs and marketers; however there are random writing and linkbuilding jobs in there to be found. Stuntdubl is a good resource.
Writing Job Roll

The purple I could do without, and many of the ads are links to other sites. But they are reliable posters and their Writing job roll has some decent jobs peppered in there.
SEOmoz

Another spot the web geeks look for help, there are not many writing jobs in there, but because SEOmoz has a reputation in the industry, this site is always worth a look.
Freelancers

I think this site is based in the UK and while there are mostly tech jobs, the chance to find work over there is worth a browse on this Freelancers site.
Writing Career

Worth a quick check, although most of Writing career‘s ads link to other sites on this one too.
Blogger Jobs

They post a steady stream of Blogger jobs and promote freelance writer profiles.
Freelance Writing Gigs

This is a great website, and many of these resources I found here. I’ve actually gotten jobs I found on the Freelance writing gigs website. Like the rest it links to plenty of Craigslist ads, but they are some of the good ones.
Writewords

Whitewashed is UK based; these jobs are good money. Remember they post their dates day / month / year.
Places For Writers

Full of very random jobs, but there is a lot of creative and artsy stuff to be written. Places for writers is a good resource.
About Freelance Writing

Lots of listings, most of them to other sites, but About freelance writing has lots of other listings.
Account Sign Up
Frankly I dislike these, I’d much rather just answer an ad than have to set up a profile, submit information ‘about me’ and pass the required quizzes in order to place a bid on work.
Generally I only sign up to these sites if they have a job I just have to bid on.
That said, if you are willing to take the time to fill out your profiles completely, upload an image, and jump through all the hoops they can be a good resource.
Worth it
Of all job resource links I have that require a profile this is the list that pays off the most.
Guru

You can browse but you can’t contact or apply without a profile. Guru is a well known site, and if you remain active there is work to be found.
Performancing

Jobs aren’t posted as often as some of the other sites, and you have to sift through to find good leads.
Performancing is one of those sites that can be a goldmine so it is worth the registration process.
Get a freelancer

There are lots of jobs listed, so people come here to Get a freelancer which could make it worth the trouble of the signup process.
oDesk

oDesk is another one with lots of jobs to offer so the account process may help find a broad spectrum of work.
Elance

The jury is out on elance, I’ve read articles written by angry ex-elancers. However it is well known, so people looking for writers use it.
Sologig

Sologig is a new site to me but if you type ‘writing’ into the keyword search field there are plenty of jobs to browse through.
May not be worth it
I’ve never had much luck with these two, however they could be helpful to you.
Freelance Switch

You have to sign up and pay if you want to apply for Freelance switch job listings.
Morning coffee

Their sign up looks simple enough, however I’ve never found a job on Morning Coffee that gave me the incentive to do it. It’s a big list of jobs so I’ll continue to keep it on my list.
Forums
Quick and easy, these forums have mainly lower paying jobs, and they don’t post as often, but they are worth a glance when jobhunting.
Writers Weekly

There are several different Writers weekly threads worth checking out.
Online Writing Jobs

Online writing jobs has a thread for high paying jobs and one for low paying jobs, you take your pick.
Journalism
I don’t have much for this area, but this is a good resource for all writers.
Journalism Jobs

A reasonable amount of journalism jobs, many of them localized but there are telecommuting jobs in there.
Affiliate
Usually I’m against earning money this way, however this one is well known and a good place to practice article writing skills.
eHow

Write articles for eHow, they cover them with ads and you earn revenue when people click the ads. It is a cheap and dirty way to earn some money, but you can write about things you know.
Crank out a few articles about something you know how to do and slap them up there and get paid to practice.
Random Websites
These are the leftovers, an odd mix of specialized industries and grants for writers.
Matador Travel

For those who love to travel and write about it, Matador Travel is geared towards travel writers.
Funds for Writers

Funds for writers is an interesting option, filled with links to writers grants and contests. Definitely worth a read from time to time.
Work At Home Moms

Not all writing jobs, this is a resource for Work at home moms. There are lots of listings, most of which link to other sites.
I hope to continue to grow this list, so anyone that has a great link I haven’t mentioned here contact me and I’ll add it to the list.

This is an interesting article with all the help-full sites that are very good for novices people and for skilled and experienced job-seekers too.
